Summer at the Tremiti Islands is Almost Here!

At Tremitando, we can’t wait to welcome back our loyal clients — many of whom have become friends over the years — and meet new visitors eager to explore this paradise on the Adriatic coast.

If you're planning a trip to the Tremiti Islands and wondering what to do, this post is for you!.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Luca De Martino, and I’m a tourism operator in the Tremiti Islands and the owner of Tremitando.

I’m Luca De Martino, a tourism operator and owner of Tremitando, a boat rental company based on these incredible islands.

Here’s a short but essential list of the top things to do at the Tremiti Islands.

1.  🚤Rent a Boat or Dinghy to Explore the Tremiti Islands Freely

One of the best ways to experience the Tremiti Islands is by renting a boat or dinghy and exploring the archipelago at your own pace.

Thousands of summer tourists choose this unforgettable experience for good reason. Imagine the freedom of steering your own boat, feeling the sea breeze, and discovering secluded coves and beaches without the pressure of a tour schedule.

Our boats do not require a nautical license — perfect for beginners! One of our top picks is the Whaly boat, ideal for couples or small families. Made of unsinkable and nearly indestructible polyethylene, it's safe and super easy to use.

👉Tip: Bring water shoes so you can swim ashore and explore hidden coves more comfortably.

Note: Life jackets are always included onboard.

Tremitando offers a range of boats for couples, families, and small groups — with a fleet of 11 unique vessels.

2. 🌊 Private Boat Tour with an Experienced Skipper

If you're not comfortable driving a boat or simply want to sit back and relax, we offer private guided boat tours led by our local experts.

Glide slowly across crystal-clear waters, soak in the stunning seabed views, and enjoy storytelling about Tremiti’s history and legends. We’ll stop at the most beautiful swimming spots for a truly relaxing and personal experience.

✅ Fully customizable

✅ No minimum group size

✅ Optional onboard aperitifs or lunch

✅ English-speaking skippers available!

👉Tip: Bring everything for a perfect day: snorkel gear, water shoes, camera equipment, food and drinks, floaties, towels, and sunscreen.

3. 🏰Visit the Island of San Nicola – An Open-Air Museum

With over a thousand years of history, San Nicola Island is a must-see. Wander through the ancient Abbey of Santa Maria a Mare, home to a stunning medieval crucifix, and explore breathtaking panoramic viewpoints.

It’s a photographer's dream and a haven for lovers of history and nature.

👉 TIP: Wear sturdy shoes — flip-flops not recommended.⚠️ Note: There are steep paths from the port to the church, not suitable for people with limited mobility.

🌅 Staying overnight? Highly recommended. Catch the magical sunset and see the castle illuminated at night — a truly unforgettable sight.

📍 Don’t forget to ask us for a historical map before your visit.

⏱ If you’re renting a boat and planning a short visit to San Nicola, allow at least 1 hour to walk up to the church and back. If you have more time, 2–4 hours is ideal for a relaxed exploration.

4. 🛶 Rent a Kayak or SUP – Eco-Friendly Fun Close to Nature

Looking for a budget-friendly and eco-conscious way to experience the islands? Try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding!

This slower, more intimate approach lets you explore sea caves and shallow coves that are inaccessible by boat. Being so close to the water surface means you can often spot marine life like starfish, sea urchins, octopuses, and schools of colorful fish.

Plus, the ever-changing hues of the sea — from turquoise to deep blue — will leave you breathless.

👉 TIP: You’ll be exposed to plenty of sun, so pack sunscreen, a large waterproof bag, snorkel gear, and water shoes.

💧 We provide a small waterproof dry bag when available!
